So many people ask this question, which one? I ask why do we have to choose? I say, I love them all, and to be honest, I am all. I do all. I started writing poetry at the age of twelve, starting writing rhymes at the age of fourteen and performing them at the age of eighteen. As for spoken word? Age fifteen.

You see, I’m in a generation of all and I see nothing wrong with that. I believe that they are all great mediums for anything your gift can be utilized and/or transformed through. I feel that it’s anything one feels most comfortable doing, which one comes natural or anything is your preference.

Hiphop

I also believe that neither one is best than the other, they are all beautiful, they all evoke different modes, messages, feelings and era of times for a collection of people. And not only that it kind of steams me to know that people want other’s to pick in the middle of the three because the truth of the matter is; if you’re gifted enough, talented enough, great enough, you can blend all three, make a marriage of them to never separate. Or if your selection is to have them individually, that’s fine.

But it’s all gorgeous art and no one should look down their nose at whether because they all coincide with each other and they are all words to be read as poetry, to be melodically spoken as spoken word or creatively, lyrically spitted, like hip hop. And after reading this, none of you can tell me that you don’t like the following artist listed below:

o Common (poet/spoken word/hip-hop)

o Galway Kinnel (poet)

o Jay- Z (hip-hop)

o Jill Scott (poet/spoken word)

o Nikki Giovanni (poet/spoken word)

o Robert Frost (poet)

o Saul Williams (poet/spoken word)

o 2pac (poet and hip-hop)

They all are one of those categories and there are so many others and all equally beautiful.

Clothes that you can wear when you are hip hop dancing has to be edgy and stylistic. The clothes should be very loose allowing a lot of free movement. Because a lot of hip hop involves heavy movement it is best to get loose clothing so there isn’t a lot of conflict cause if body parts must hit the crowd. Depending on the song that is played while your dance habit you can pick and match clothes according. For example you clearly don’t want to be wearing baggy jeans dancing to Mozart. Hip Hop dance is a style of dance that allows for habitancy to dress in many separate ways, because it is not very formal, neither are the clothing requirements.

Sometimes for a competition there is more literal, clothing rules required because obvious types of styles are not allowed, be sure to plan accordingly. The dance dressing style should also match if you have a group of performers. There are many separate ways to match together with using things such as color coordination so that you have a collection of clothes that are separate colors. Color coordination is the most popular form of style that the hip hop society likes to wear in establishment for dance competition. Remember that clothing can help a lot not just from a stylistic standpoint but also from a skill stand point. Wearing the right blend of clothes can help make it easier to execute obvious moves. The shoes are very leading because they are the direct clothing that helps you move nearby and interact with the ground. Much to my father’s dismay, I’ve all the time been a radio hog. Even since my younger years, barely old adequate to see over the snow-covered dashboard, the second that seatbelt clicked in and we pulled out onto icy I-95 for the drive home- I was in control.

It was the 90′s- The Golden Era of Rap- And I couldn’t have been more hooked. While my father couldn’t have been more disgusted.

Hiphop

” 9 to 5 is how you survive, I’m not tryna survive, I’m tryna live it to the limit and love it a lot. ”

- Jay Z

Lyrics like that filled my head with dreams of pursuing your passion and succeeding despite all odds, while the center console in the car served as the midpoint of 2 complete opposite ends of a spectrum- My father’s concept process and my own- Neither right nor wrong, just stemming from a different base contact of the human existence.

“Do you of course like listening to a guy putting down people like me and your mom who work regular jobs to keep food on the table and clothes on your back? This guy’s on the radio bragging about how much more he has than you- Do you of course find that spicy to listen to?”.

I did.

I linked to Jay-Z not because I came from the same struggle as him. I was raised a prime example of middle-class: Well fed, well clothed, I had the best childhood whatever could ask for.

But like Jay-Z, I all the time wanted more. It didn’t matter if our beginning points were different, because our destination goals were the same. I had a desire to achieve greatness.

Now I have to admit, my hip hop obsession back then was a bit of a blind following of the “In” thing at the moment. I gave every artist in the genre a pass no matter what they were saying, frankly because it sounded too cool to doubt.

However, as I grew and matured, and the music seemed to go in the opposite direction, I began to feel less and less of a connection to it as what had attracted me in the first place seemed to slip away more and more and be less prevalent in songs- Originality.

It is the realization that this music is on it’s last leg that military me to have to account for how it got this way. It is a wounded dog limping in the middle of the legs of it’s unsure master, shotgun in hand. Current day Hip Hop doesn’t stand a opening to the fan who goes into it with an unobjective opinion, giving it the benefit of the doubt to see what it can offer.

Hip Hop has become a portrayal of character archetypes. But it wasn’t all the time this way…

The Beginning

Hip Hop is a culture that sprouts forth from seeds planted in slavery. From a people who have been told since their birth that they are lazy, sick, worthless, inferior & stupid. New words such as the N word have even been created for the sole purpose of defining their inferiority.

Positively outnumbered and unsuccesful in the “No I’m not”, “Yes you are” merry go-round, Hip Hop did an spicy thing. Instead of fighting it, it flipped the tables and turned the negatives into positives.

If they were the N word, then that was a distinct thing. If they were dumb, then that was as well.

” I was dumb glad, this **** didn’t fit in one bag ”

-Big L

“Why are they calling each other the N word but they get mad when person else says it?”, my father would ask. And believe me when I tell you, the reasoning goes much deeper than one word ending in ‘a’ and the other in ‘er’.

Artists have been thriving at converting their negative experiences into distinct ones for decades. Artists such as Talib Kweli, Mos Def, tasteless & Lupe Fiasco spin musical tales of overcomming the worst of circumstances.

Of course, not all artists in the genre wanted to end it at turning their negative experiences into distinct ones. Others wanted to show you exactly what you, as their oppressor, had created. It was a big middle finger to the America that had forced them into such a dismal existence.

Enter Gangster Rap

Artists such as Nwa popularized a violent musical culture that would take the world by storm. There is a intuit 90% of news stories are about negative events. It attracts attention. And this is exactly what gangster rap did as middle-class Americans all over the country couldn’t turn away as a life they had never even dreamed of unfolded in front of their eyes in every form of creation the senses could take in- Audio, Video, Literature, etc.

This would at last culminate in the assassination of 2 of the gangster rap genre’s biggest and most influential stars- Tupac Shakur & Christopher “Notorious Big” Wallace, 2 former friends caught up in a partly media-influenced East Coast-West Coast rivalry that would at last claim both their lives in the late 90′s.

The music industry, like any other, requires money and financial backing to run, and the front page of the Boston Globe returns a lot more on their investment than an description in the obituary column, and thus began the slow decline of the original, free speech music of Hip Hop. It hadn’t been excellent to this point, but it was original.

The Southern Takeover

It wouldn’t be long until the “Party Anthem” and “Club Banger” era arrived in the early 2000′s, ushered in primarily from artists in the southern regions of the country. It was at this point rap became more and more characterized- Archetypes of the gangster, pimp & loose female.

Characterization makes marketing simpler for the description companies, who now get rich off an image that deteriorates an whole community. There’s no more free speech, there’s just similar character types of the individuals that once did of course speak their mind before labels stepped in and forced them to “dumb it down”.

Hip Hop has now become exactly what my father had previously concept it was, and I find myself with less and less ground to stand on as I have to quote time periods now nearly a decade old to prove my points, even losing my own connection to it as time progresses forward.

Will I end up like my own father, constantly quoting the music of my “glory days” while trying to convince my son why my music’s good than his generations?

Maybe…

But I can tell you, I will certainly speak freely when I do it…

Nonexclusive rights give the artist the capability to put the song on he/she records on a demo to show to A&R reps and to potentially get a deal off of. Sounds good right? Only, with exclusive rights, you don’t own the rights to the beat. The producer does and he can sell the beat to as many citizen as he wants. This is ideal for demos because it is economy and you can still have a capability stock to shop to labels. Beats bought nonexclusive may be able to become exclusive if you can reach the producer and come to an agreement.

Good stage proximity helps music artists have long memorable careers. Here are some live doing tips for those who fear speaking in group or who just want to heighten their live shows. Most of you know I began emceeing back in the early 80′s. I have been blessed to stand on many stages in my lifetime even before I knew what Hiphop was. I have all the time loved the art of emceeing either it is written for a live doing or freestyle.

When it comes to live shows, the art and skill of emceeing helps people connect with you. Live shows put your face with the music. When they legitimately like you, they call you back for more. This record is about what it takes to get them to call you back.

Hiphop

I call it Stage Presence.

Here are 5 tips to help you heighten your stage presence:

- You must rehearse

- You must connect

- You must engage

- You must make a memorable entrance

- You must make a memorable exit

Let us look at each one separately:

1. You must rehearse

When people come to see you perform live, they want to be entertained. The best live performers narrate to give the audience the best show possible. Rehearsing helps you get all the kinks out of your performance. It helps make your set tight. If you are on stage and you do not have any order, the crowd will know. Practice helps you finally with having as flawless a set as inherent and giving the crowd the “Ooo weeee! I would without fail like to see you perform again!” experience.

2. You must connect

From the occasion you hit the stage, you make a connection with your audience. The crowd has all eyes on you. That connection should hopefully be a good one. You have to be convinced yourself that you are going to give them a great show before anyone else will. Do not be afraid to look directly into the eyes of the people in the crowd when you get onstage. They will respect you more.

3. You must engage

A dope emcee interacts with the audience. It may be through a call and response song or chant. Or it could be shaking hands with people in the audience. A true emcee has the power to engage with the crowd and let them help operate the flow of the show. This means they give you feedback as you give them a show.

4. You must make a memorable entrance.

This legitimately piggybacks on whole 2 from above. people will be seeing and listening to every thing you do and say. This is also one of the crucial two moments of your show. This is the occasion you have to make the first impression and it sets the tone of your show.

5. You must make a memorable exit

The second crucial occasion of your show is the exit or ending of your show. This is the last thing people commonly remember about you and your show. It is good to have peaks and valleys in your show. This also helps you connect and engage the crowd. To legitimately make a mark you have to leave them feeling totally entertained. A memorable exit will hopefully make them want to see you perform again if they liked you.

6. Bonus Technique!!! – Leave the fans with some type of souvenir

This is a killer bonus step because you can use this technique to work with any of the techniques above. By giving something of value to the audience, some thing corporeal like a Cd, key chain, mug, t-shirt, etc., you connect and engage with your audience. If you give it to them at the starting of the show it helps you make a memorable entrance. If used at the end, it helps to make a memorable exit. The fans will all the time remember you for giving them something.

Try these techniques out for yourself to help build your stage presence. If you know all of these tips, then fine. Even one tip may have inspired you to reach for more. If so then my job was accomplished.

So what are you waiting on? Go and get started now and leave your brand of stage proximity on the world.

Hiphop

Hat: bat, rat, sat, and mat

Book: look, took, cook, and rook

Beat: heat, treat, eat, and meat

Low: mow, tow, bow, and row

Ride: hide, tide, guide, and fried

Internet seems to shrink the ground for creativity. As the world gets bombarded with countless innovations, you are left with slight to nothing new to offer in the marketplace. Due to the fast pace of modernization, creativity somehow changes from “it takes time” to “instant”. And while all things is made at a snap of a finger, the impact it has on citizen also immediately wears off. It comes and it goes – just like that.

But cascading from this trend is the challenge for individuals, entrepreneurs, and business organizations to rise above and succeed. It is significant to find creative ways to start your business, keep it afloat and take it to greater heights.

Hiphop

Now, how do we tap into that creativity?

We all have innate creativity; some citizen may have more, but the point is, all of us have a creative nerve flowing. We just have to uncover ways for it to out pour.

It plainly has to start with daily, small, even indeed tiny efforts. Listed below are some ways to begin unleashing your creativity:

1. Know your adequate length of sleep

Normal sleep of adults must go around 7 to 8 hours but it may still vary from person to person. Lack of sleep slows down the brain and hinders the capacity to focus. But then some citizen tend to think well at 4 hours!

2. examine various activities

You might say you are already busy with family and work, having no time for other activities. But these other activities can perhaps mount an idea that you otherwise would not have concept of. See things differently by occasionally changing your habit then examine how the experience opens the door for creativity.

If you have a scheduled brainstorming on Monday, why not try parasailing this weekend?

3. Find time for friends

Old and new. It is always refreshing to be with good company. Go and have lunch out, evening meal date, or coffee chat with high school buddies. Sincere conversation eases up your mind, and intimacy increases brain power thus allowing creativity to heighten.

4. Learn new things

If you are working in the computer industry, why not try and pick a magazine about advertising? Would it be inspiring to know how they make a 30-second commercial just to gain new knowledge? And deviate your thoughts for an hour or two from your real and current tasks. Who knows, you might get some insights by reading stuff wholly distinct from your field.

5. Spoil yourself once in a while

Buy that camera. Go to the beach. Buy a new laptop. Watch it in 3D. Have a massage. Subscribe to the gym. When you feel too stressed out and nothing creative can be squeezed out from you anymore, this can be a good time to just effect your impulse. Have fun and indulge in your desires, for once! Then go back to reasoning after the indulgence and examine how it elevates your creativity level.

6. Be at your creative footing

Others seem to undertake all possible business endeavors, what more is left? Still a lot. But in trying to give birth to an very unique goods or service, it helps to be in a place where you can be most fruitful. Some citizen achieve their eureka working in an enclosed room with loud hiphop music. Others appreciate solitude while sipping a cup of coffee. And some originate breakthroughs via harsh arguments with peers.

7. Take time to scribble

In scribbling, don’t be conscious of grammar, of the content, of the writing style. Just write down what is in your thoughts without editing and proofreading. It frees your mind from worries, manufacture you shed ideas, good or bad. Then at last you can pick the creative stuff.

8. Walk in the park

Or in your office garden. Or in the around street. When you’ve been staring at a blank paper for long and nothing seems to pop up-Unwind. A zephyr of air is like a spa to the busy brain.

9. Eat the right food

This might sound like a typical advertisement for brain boosting elements but really, take a whole grain diet and you will thank me for it. It will give you a longer supply of power because its components break down slowly, giving the body a longer time to think. Load up on Omega 3 fatty acids too, found in nuts and some oily fish that are used as construction blocks for the neurotransmitters; it enables neurons to converyance information to your brain more effectively. Vitamin C, E and beta carotene are well-known anti-oxidants; contain them in your meals to maintain brain function.

10. Try Aromatherapy

Particular scents can stimulate the mind! While you’re in your cubicle and are forced to conjure up something juicy, why not have aromatherapy oils for creative thinking? Try Ylang-ylang – this relaxes you and invites creativity in; cedarwood helps you focus; cinnamon motivates you; rosemary lifts the mood; sandalwood gives encouragement; peppermint relieves headaches and may enhance your writing ability; lavender serves as an all-around feel good oil.

As you may see, Big Ideas may be triggered in commonplace ways but its impact is without a doubt- very huge! The room for creativity might indeed be extra tough in what is truly becoming a smaller environment for any trade but this scenario equates to higher opportunities if you just know how to grow and conduct your creative juice. So do what is significant not to spill it!
